our Sinterklaas

We added a new tradition to our Christmas season. This year the Sinterklaas came. The kids put the shoes out with carrots for his horse. And then we read the story of how Sinterclaas (St. Nicholas) started.
The next morning the shoes were filled with these little guys.
I didn't want it to be about the kids getting more stuff, but something we could enjoy as a family. We put these up on the mantle to add to our Christmas decorations so we can all enjoy them.

Because Sinterklaas is mostly celebrated in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, etc. I wanted to get vintage Christmas things from those countries. I'm thinking each year we will add to our new collection of vintage European Christmas items.
